THE DYNASTY CONTINUES

Toledo Brings Home Smythe #7

6th smythe

The 2008-2009 school year marked yet another successful year for the men of the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Toledo.  Not only did the men excel in the years most brutal competition, recruitment, but also in all other areas.  The men of PIKE have always stood out as leaders in athletics, community service, and philanthropy, and this year was no exception.  The men excelled at being Toledo's Premier fraternity for yet another year and are continuing to strive to make the 2009-2010 school year even more successful.

A DYNASTY IS BORN

EE Brings Home 5th Consecutive Smythe Award

 Dynasty is Born

Each year Pi Kappa Alpha International HQ recognizes the best of the best Pike chapters with the highly sought after Robert Adger Smythe Award.  This award is given to the top 5-8% of Pike Chapters in the U.S. and Canada and is given for excellence in all areas of programming (recruitment, member education, athletics, community service, philanthropy, and more!).

This year the Toledo Pikes brought home our 5th consecutive Smythe Award, thus placing us in the category of a Dynasty Chapter.  For a chapter that was refounded back in 2002, this is quite an extraordinary accomplishment.  Here are some of the things that we did last year to earn this award:

  • Largest chapter on campus (103 men at the end of Spring 2008)
  • 1st on Campus in terms of size and recruitment
  • 8,703 hours of community service
  • $13,259 donated to charities
  • 1st in Athletics with 11 championships and placing in every single sport
  • 100% dues collection
  • 100% campus involvement
  • Top scholarship program in the country (giving out over $20,000 in scholarships each year

Aside from the Robert Adger Smythe Award, UT Pikes were also recognized for being in the top 3 New Member Education Programs in the country and the top 3 in Finances.  We also brought home the top Athletics programming award for our dominance in campus intramurals.
